    Hi! I have a question about lesson 9. It was mentioned that Koreans drop these particles frequently when speaking. In the examples given in the lesson, would it also be correct to drop the particles when writing? Or do they always need to be included to be grammatically correct? 감사합니다.

    Hi 선생님, referring Level 1 Lesson 17, I have the following questions:
    1) I noticed that the past tense for word stem 쓰, the past tense will lose the ㅡ. Will this apply to all word stems that have ㅡ as the last vowel?
    2) As for 기다리다, word stem ends with ㅣ, however the past tense would become 기다렸어요. Does that mean all word stems that ends with ㅣ, will have its past tense changed to 였?

      1) ㅡ is irregular, it will be explained in a future lesson.
      2) 기다렸어요 is another form of 기다리었어요

        i know we’re all here to learn korean, but please try not to use romanized korean:) if you insist on learning korean with romanizations, you will find it very hard to excel in pronunciations. no one will understand you even if your grammar is good. i’ve accustomed to hangul and despise romanizations so much, and struggle to read it. “안녕하세요” and “감사합니다” = what we should be typing. just a heads up:)

    This course is excellent, and I enjoy learning here. I am struggling with sentence structure and remembering where to put what little I know in a sentence. I just finished level 1 and understood maybe 1/3 of the end dialogue, I got a little confused over vocabulary, but got the general idea of what was going on. I do enjoy the exchanges between Hyeon Woo and Keung Eun, and the study materials are very helpful. Hopefully Level 2 will help Korean feel more natural for me, and thanks TTMIK for your hard work!

      Indeed! This course, I think is the best, well at least for me. It’s just so easy to understand the way Hyeon Woo explains it with Keung Eun. It just requires a bit of practice and time to be able to use all the knowledge that we learnt so far from this course.

    안녕하세요. I have a grammar question about Lesson 19. I wanted to make sure that I am understanding where to place 언제 in a sentence with a noun and I am not 100% sure based on the sample. Would the proper place for 안제 be right before the verb like in the sample sentence “아침에 안제 일어나요” or could it appropriately be placed at the beginning? For example, in sentences (1) 언제 한국에 갔어요 and (2) 오늘 사무실에서 언제 일해요, are either of these placements correct or is placing it at the beginning like in sentence 1 incorrect?

      I think if we are using correct location, subject, topic, object, etc.
      marking particles, then we can change the order of the various sentence elements.

      I got confused with that when I was about 5 lessons in, and I managed to figure it out. There’s a button that says “mark complete” at the end of each lesson. When you’ve finished the lesson and reached the bottom of the page, click that button. A check mark will show next to the lesson title, and when you go back to the main page, it will show the progress.

    Help please…. Why is it that every time I click a lesson it brings me to my account settings? I have been paying premium for a year and can’t even manage too find where the lesson pdfs are anymore.

      that was happening to me too but everything started working fine after i logged out, erased the tab then went back in a bit later lol

      For me also happen, but I know how to fix it now. So basically you just need to click the lesson Level course and it will show you to the lesson of that level course!

      What’s the difference between 쓰다 and 적다?
      When is each used?
      And doesn’t 적다 mean a few or a little???

      Also what’s the difference between 진생 and 인삼???

        HI!! fluent speaker here, just using ttmik to brush up on writing and grammar, 쓰다 would mean write in a more creative way, whereas 전다 means tell or to write notes on a paper. And as for few or little do you mean 작은?? Now the difference between 진생 and 인삼 are as follows, I couldn’t really tell you. I know I personally use 진생 more as a konglish thing, but idrk abt that one. Apologies.

        Typically, 적다 means to write down (and from what I know, yes, it can also mean “a few/a little”) and 쓰다 means to write or to use.
