Hi everyone, I have been learning Korean on and off for a year but I am still a beginner. Jeff, I would love to be your study partner. It is nice to have someone to discuss the learning with. Where are you from?

  3. Tina H,

I think that this is quite difficult. I have just finished Level 1 and throughout the course, they tell you not to worry too much about the vocabulary and learn the grammar but the review at the end was mostly vocabulary. Although I can now understand some key words, I feel that I should have learnt a lot more after so many lessons.

  21. Sadhbh C.,

Does 이것 literally only mean “this thing”? Like.. You can’t say “이것 커피” because that would mean “this thing coffee”, am I right? Thank you 🙂

    • Hoi Shan Leung,

I think 이것 mean “this one”. If we want to say ‘this coffee’, we should write ‘이 커피’.

      • Sadhbh C.,

Also Hoi Shan Leung (cool name btw) thank you too!

    • Sofia Saboia,

맞아요! You can’t say just “이것 커피”. All you can say is:
1 . “이거 커피예요” – This is coffee. [Like, this thing here is coffee]
      2. “이커피…” – This coffee… [You’re talking about this coffee, and you need to put a particles next to the word “coffee” too.
And you can also ad a topic marking particle to talk about this coffee or are saying that this thing is coffee… I hope I could help you. I am a Level 2 student <3

      • Sadhbh C.,

Aaah, 감사합니다! I was just confused with all the different ways to say it, but you really helped! 🙏Much appreciated!

  24. Lecy,

I understood most of the dialogue! Ive taken notes from every lesson and listened to the podcast. Beginners, do this and master hangul before starting this

    • ,

how did you learn the korean alphabet ? did you download an application ?

      • Mel Laurens,

Hangul is actually one of the easiest written languages to learn! I would actually recommend Duolingo if you want to learn how to read it. There are also many charts online that have all the characters right there. Hangul has consonants and vowels that can be put together in different ways to make different sounds. For example ㄷ (d/t) + ㅏ (a) = 다 (da/ta).

      • Jim Mira,

There are many useful YouTube videos for learning hangul. The one I recommend is GO!Billy’s hangul video series

  25. Maggie Howell,

안녕하세요. I am just starting your lessons and I wanted to say 감사합니다!
