Hi! I have a doubt in lesson 26.
많이 걸었는데, 안 피곤해요.
Why is it “안 피곤해요” and not 피곤 안 해요?
Because the negative sentence of 공부해요 would be 공부 안 해요.
it ‘s because 피곤해요 is ADJECTIVE that cannot be separated, therefore we can only use 안 피곤해요 instead of 피곤 안 해요
Thanks for the comment ! 🙂
Oh okay. Thank you!
Hello!
Is there a way in which I can practice writing Hangul in a uniform and neat way? Cuz right now I write some letters smaller/ bigger than others and two syllables are not in the same size.
Thank you for the inquiry 🙂 You can find our Hangeul Master book at https://talktomeinkorean.com/product/hangeul/ ^^ It will be helpful for you to practice writing Hangeul.
I just figured out something. incase anyone wants to know I’ll put it here. I always wondered what the past tense of the I-ae-yo was and I came across Hyunwoo-ssi saying I-eoss-eo-yo… Hope it helps someone… Sorry I don’t hv the Hanguel keyboard in this phone… If I can I’ll re type it with the other phone in hanguel😊😊😊😊
I-ae-yo : 이에요 , I-eoss-eo-yo : 이어서요 . They have the same meaning : “is” ! ^^ However, more specifically, sometimes “이어서요” means “** is ㅁㅁ, but…(or so…) . For example, A: Can you afford this? B: 제가 아직 중학생이어서요…(그래서 못 사요) = I’m just a middle school student…(so I can’t afford it) Hope you find this helpful. ^^
I feel like im back to school from grade 1 and i think grade 3 is a big girls grade
exactly!!!!!
안녕하세요! I hope you all are doing well. I have a query, can you give a tip on how to write those Chinese characters. They are very difficult to write. I hope you will help. 감사합니다!
You can totally google the meaning of the chinese character and I’m sure you’ll find different websites which will give you the stroke order.
I hope it helped !

hi, can i ask are 위해 and 위해서 interchangeable? and is it wrong if i use 위해여 or 위해여서?
Yes they are interchangeable. ‘위해여(서)’is wrong, it should be ‘위하여(서)’ which is grammatically correct. However, you should use ‘위해(서)’ which would be more natural.
Thanks for the comment 🙂
Hi! Doubt again 😅
Lesson 4:
이 사람은 누구일까요?
[i sa-ra-meun nu-gu-il-kka-yo?]
Shouldn’t it be nu-gul-kka-yo? As nu-gu ends in a vowel?
nu-gu (sorry, I don’t have a Korean keyboard) is a question word which means “who”. Therefore, you need to attach a verb to it to ask “who” they are. Here, the verb i-da “to be” is used. And with -(eu)-l kka-yo, i-da becomes il-kka-yo.
I hope it is clearer !
When you ask plainly “who is that person?” you say “이 사람은 누구예요?” You’re using the verb “이다”. It’s the same with the example above, you need to use 일까요, if you don’t the sentence would literally mean ” i wonder that person who”
I hope this helps, I’m not good at explaining 🙁
Who is this* sorry my mistake
Isnt that exactly the meaning of 이 사람은 누구일까요. Isnt it suppose to mean ” i wonder who that person is”?
Hello. This is a doubt regarding lesson 3.
나무 뒤에 숨어 있었어요.
[na-mu dwi-e su-meo i-sseo-sseo-yo.]
= I have been hiding behind the tree.
Shouldn’t this be “dwi-eso” because it talks about “hiding” which is an action?
나무 뒤에 숨어 있었어요.
[na-mu dwi-e su-meo i-sseo-sseo-yo.]
= I have been hiding behind the tree.
It’s difficult to explain cos it doesn’t literally translate well in English.
숨어 is a noun that means “the act of hiding”. The verb 있었어요 is the past tense of “to exist/to be at a location”.
Since it’s a noun and you are just stating a location with the noun of “hiding”, you don’t use “dwi-eso”.
It’s sort of more like “I am/was at the tree while hiding”. The emphasis in this example sentence is the location that you are at the tree, not necessarily that you’re hiding. That’s how it works in Korean. It’s a noun in Korean. It’s complicated.
Thank you for your response.
Then how do I figure out which actions act like a noun in a sentence and which don’t?
If you look at a Korean dictionary, you will find that verbs will end in 다 while words that aren’t verbs will appear as they would normally since they can’t be conjugated.
Think of 숨어 as translating as “stealth” and 있었어요 as “had”.
So 나무 뒤에 숨어 있었어요 would kind of literally translate to I had stealth behind the tree. Having stealth isn’t an action you are doing at the tree, you just happen to be at the tree with stealth. That’s how the Korean language phrases “hiding”.
Oh okay! Thank you! 😁
Hi, I have a question about lesson 24. In the lesson said if the verb stem ends with -르 [-reu], then followed by other endings, such as -아/어/여고 [-a/eo/yeo-go], -는데 [-neun-de], etc., -르 will still stay the same. Could you give some examples in this case?
if I use lesson 21 as an example,
빠르다 [ppa-reu-da] = to be fast
빠른데
모르다 [mo-reu-da] = to not know
모르는데
Hope this helps! Just keep the -르 [-reu] and add the other endings following the rules of the other endings while keeping -르 [-reu]
