  3. Sonia Williams,

Can someone help with how to conjugate -μ•„/μ–΄/μ—¬ 봀자 please (level 7 lesson 7)
I understand μ—¬ 봀자 with ν•˜λ‹€ as this was explained fully in the lesson and review but I can’t understand when you need to use μ•„ 봀자 or μ–΄ 봀자.
I’ve tried searching online but it’s just confusing. Please help. Thanks.

    • Chinh Nguyen,

You cannot just add 봀자 to the verb stem, you have to “conjugate” the verb first. So for example, μ—Žλ“œλ¦¬λ‹€ (to bend down) should be μ—Žλ“œλ € 봀자; ν„Έλ‹€ (to shake off) should be ν„Έμ–΄ 봀자; κ³ λ₯΄λ‹€ (to choose) should be 골라 봀자.

    • E S,

If I understand your question correctly, you do not know in which situation to use this grammar, right?
You use it to say, “Whether you do it (whatever) or not, it will be unnecessary.”

    Correct Answer
    β‘‘ μΌμ›”μ΄κ΅¬λ‚˜

    Explanation
    A: λ³΄λžŒμ•„, λ°₯ 먹자.
    = Boram, let’s eat.
    B: 벌써 ______! κ°€μž.
    = It’s already ______! Let’s go.

    여름 처럼 λ‚ μ”¨μ˜ˆμš”. 이런 λ¬Έμž₯ μ•ˆλΌμš”? κΌ ‘같이’λ₯Ό μ¨μš”?

    • Joseph Choi,

There’s no such thing as μ—¬λ¦„μ²˜λŸΌ 날씨, but there are 여름같은 날씨. 처럼 is usually used in ways of “such as” and 같은 as “like”. So when you say μ—¬λ¦„μ²˜λŸΌ, it would be “such as summer” but 여름같은 날씨 would be “weather like summer” or “summer-like weather”

    • Retty Rizda,

As for me, cmiiw tho, you can use -처럼 for that sentence but without space. So it’ll become μ—¬λ¦„μ²˜λŸΌ λ‚ μ”¨μ˜ˆμš”.

    • Harshithasri,

actually, that kind of sentence is not very common way of describing the weather… I don’t think people usually say “the weather is like snow” even in English…

    • Lexi,

  9. deniz bozkir,

hi TTMIK i have been thinking about the differences between 게 λ˜λ‹€ – κ²Œλ˜μ–΄ μžˆλ‹€.
    can u explain to me shortly γ… γ… γ… γ… γ…

    • TalkToMeInKorean Staff,

-게 λ˜λ‹€ = to get to (gradually) do something
-게 λ˜μ–΄ μžˆλ‹€ = to be bound to be in a certain state (eventually)
“μ•Œκ²Œ λ˜μ–΄ μžˆμ–΄μš”(You are bound to find out eventually).” shows a bit more conviction than “μ•Œκ²Œ 될 κ±°μ˜ˆμš”(You will find out).”

      • eaintthu phyo,

Hi , I have a question. For the 만큼 , we should use (으)만큼 for future. For present , λŠ” 만큼.Here ,I want to know whether λŠ” 만큼 only is used for both Quality verb and Action verb. And how about for past.
        Please help me explain.πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

  10. Meiyee,

    Hello TTMIK ~ In Lesson 19 there is a sample sentence “μ €λŠ” λͺ‡ 살이냐고 λ¬Όμ–΄λ³΄λŠ” 게 제일 μ‹«μ–΄μš”.”
May I ask what 게 here means? Seems I hear ” -λŠ” 게” (Am I correct?) quite often in Koreans’ daily conversation. Thank you very much!

    • TalkToMeInKorean Staff,

게 is short for 것이. πŸ™‚

    • Olivier Frier,

    Thanks πŸ™‚

    • TalkToMeInKorean Staff,

Level 8 textbook has come out!
We aim to publish Level 6 workbook but we’re not sure how long it will take.

How can we tell WHAT HAPPENED in korean. Gamsahamnida

    • TalkToMeInKorean Staff,

You can say 무슨 μΌμ΄μ—μš”? in Korean. : )

  13. Joanne Liew,

Hello there, I have a few questions.
    1. I am currently studying Korean in a 학원, and this site helps me a lot in my Korean language learning. However, since the upgrade, I have not been able to find or use the search function that you guys used to have, so I admit that it is a lot harder to find the lesson for certain words that I need some understanding on. For eg, (λŠ”)게, (으)γ„΄/λŠ”λ°. May I know where can I find those and is the search function coming along?
    2. For lesson 28, is (γ„΄/λŠ”)λ‹€λŠ” 것 the same as (Verb)+ λŠ” 것이 which equals to (Verb) + λŠ”κ²Œ?

    Thank you.

    • jeremie gariepy,

Personally what I use to bypass this problem is to use the google search bar to find certain words. For instance, I could write : λŠ” 것 κ°™μ•„μš” talk to me in korean. Most of the time you can figure out the lesson directly from a google search, and then proceed to the desired lesson

    • TalkToMeInKorean Staff,

      1. We are working on adding the search feature again. We’re not sure how long it will take but we appreciate your patience in the meantime.
      2. They mean almost the same but it adds “In my opinion/the nature of” kind of meaning when you say (γ„΄/λŠ”)/λ‹€λŠ” 것.
      Happy Studying! ✏️

  14. Brandon,

Hello! I have a question for lesson 15. I understand we can say something like “뭐더라?”, “λμ˜€μ§€?”, or “λμ˜€μ£ ?”, but I was wondering also if it was possible to say “λλ˜λ°μš”?”, since -λ˜λ°μš” is the μ‘΄λŒ“λ§ version for -더라? Would “λλ˜λ°μš”?” be wrong/unnatural?

    • TalkToMeInKorean Staff,

      λλ˜λ°μš”? is incorrect, and λμ˜€μ£ ? is μ‘΄λŒ“λ§ version πŸ™‚

      • Brandon,
